From Paldo

Jump to: navigation, search

This page describes briefly how you can create an USB pendrive loaded with the Paldo Live CD image for demonstration or installation. For the installation of Paldo on your computer see Installation using the LiveCD.

[edit] Prerequisites

To install paldo from an USB drive, you need:

  1. A USB pendrive/harddisk with at least 650MB free space
  2. A running Linux setup
  3. A Paldo Live CD image (see http://www.paldo.org/index-section-downloads.html)
  4. The paldo-image-writer.sh script, download.

[edit] Step-by-Step Installation

Basically, only two steps are needed to install the ISO on your USB drive.

First, create a new ext2 partition of at least 650MB on your USB drive, e.g. using palimpsest.

Then, as root, install the downloaded Live CD image on the USB drive using the paldo-image-writer.sh:

# ./paldo-image-writer.sh <live cd image> <target partition>

Assuming that you want to install Paldo stable to your newly created ext2 partition on /dev/sdc1, run:

# ./paldo-image-writer.sh Downloads/paldo-live-cd-x86-stable.iso /dev/sdc1

If you don't get any errors, you should be all set now. Restart your computer and boot from the USB drive.
